These tips are updated every time you connect to the net, so don't forget to check them once in a while using the "Net Tips" option from the main menu.
You can always add more friends to your list by clicking "Add/Find Users" on your ICQ window.
You initiate events (like chat, file transfer, etc.) by clicking the mouse button on the desired party in your contact list.
You can answer incoming events by double clicking the left mouse button on the user name.
You can send files or folders by dragging them onto the desired user.
You can send messages and URLs to a user even when he's offline.
You can add as many people as you want to an ongoing chat session. Just initiate a chat and select "Add to session" before sending.
You can add another user to a chat by dragging him to the chat session.
Click the mouse button on a user in the list in order for you to initiate (send) events (like Chat, File transfer etc.). When an event arrives, a flashing icon appears near the user who sent it. Double click on him with the left mouse button to answer the event.
To stop ICQ from starting upon computer startup, go to the ICQ preferences from the ICQ menu, click on the "connection" tab and uncheck "Launch ICQ on startup".
You can serach for ICQ users using wildcards. For example, to search for a nickname beginning with 's' type s* in the nickname field.
Your computer will be periodically updated with the precise local time provided your country is written in the 'Country' box: ICQ Menu->(UnRegister/Listings-> View/Changes My Listings->Country.
You can record a specific event sound for a specific user by clicking the username and choosing "sounds".
You can appear invisible to a certain user at all times by clicking user and choosing repsonse settings->invisible to user, or by adding user's name to your invisible list in ICQ menu->security&privacy
You can rename a user name on your list in case of doubles by clicking user and choosing "rename".
Users who don't have ICQ can send you messages to your ICQ window using your WWpager address: http://wwp.mirabilis.com/<Your ICQ#>. Print this address on your Business Card.
Users who don't have ICQ can send you messages to your ICQ window using their regular e-mail client by typing the following address in their 'to' field: <Your ICQ#>@pager.mirabilis.com. Print this address on your Business Card.
You can send your contact list to another user by clicking user and choosing "send contact list".
You can search for ICQ users with common interests at: http://www.mirabilis.com/mainsearch.html
You can enter your phone numbers and enable certain users to dial you with a click of an ICQ button by typing them in your ICQ preferences->telephone.
You can phone call a contact easily, provided the user made his/her number available to you, by clicking user and choosing "dial user". Pick up a receiver and hold it to the computer while ICQ tone dials the number.
You can find a random chat partner from the ICQ severs by accessing the ICQ preferences.
You can minimize your ICQ window but still "see" one or more specific users by clicking on the user and choosing "floating on" or by dragging user to your desktop.
You can choose to accept only "urgent" messages by changing your status to "DND" through the status menu on your ICQ window.
You can add specific users to your Invisible list, thus preventing them from being aware of your "online" status, by clicking on the ICQ menu and choosing "Security & Privacy".
You can add specific users to your Visible list, thus allowing them to be aware of your "online" status, even if you are in "Invisible" mode.
